helsingør the perfect city for a romantic engagement photo session

I met this lovely couple in June this year in Helsingør for an engagement photoshoot. Helsingør is one of my favorite cities in Sjæland. It’s just 30 minutes by train from Copenhagen and has one of the best-preserved historical centers in Europe. Helsingør is an incredible place for a romantic engagement photo session. The city is on the northeast coast of Sjælland, so in addition to the old cobbled streets and colorful houses, you can enjoy beautiful beaches and dunes. Not to mention the Kronborg castle, the main attraction of the city, which every year attracts tourists from all over the world.
B. & C. came from New York to spend the summer in Denmark and chose Helsingør as the backdrop for their engagement photos. We started our engagement session in the old town of Helsingør at 7 pm and took the last pictures on the dunes around 8:30 pm. In Denmark, the days are very long during the summer, with sunset around 10 pm. I love that time of the year. Even though summer is the craziest period for me in terms of work, combined with my daughter’s school holidays, every night feels like a vacation. It’s incredible to be able to spend time outside with our loved ones on these long warm summer nights. I’m currently enjoying all the Christmas hygge: the cold weather, lit candles, comfy socks, and Christmas decorations. But by January, I’m sure I’ll be looking forward to photographing many more couples in Helsingør, Copenhagen, or wherever the sun shines.
