Civil wedding at Copenhagen City Hall | Copenhagen wedding photographer
One of the things I like most about being a wedding photographer in Copenhagen is being able to get to know so many international couples and their love stories. I’ve heard stories of those who met at work, on a trip, others met at a friend’s wedding, and in the case of this beautiful couple, on the internet.
Still on the internet, they found yours truly! And I feel very lucky to have been chosen to document their elopement in Copenhagen.
The day started their special Monday at Nimb Hotel, where I photographed the bride getting ready for the wedding. After hair and make up were done, it was time to get dressed: time to become a real bride. I love photographing brides getting dressed. I love the delicacy of the movements, capturing a little skin but not too much, the reactions to the bride wearing her dress. This moment can be very emotional, especially for the parents.
Once bride and groom were ready to go, we headed to Copenhagen City Hall for the civil wedding ceremony. The trip to the City Hall was quite something, as they rented a Rolls-royce to get around town. The smell of the leather seat brought back memories of my childhood, when my grandmother used to take us for a ride in her Volkswagen Beetle.
After the civil ceremony at city hall, we went to Nyhavn for some wedding portraits. The day was very chilly, so we headed back to the hotel for a few more photos at Nimb’s roof terrace. The terrace is very elegant and has a great view to some amazing buildings in the city centre. But most importantly, it has a heated pool.
The groom finished our wedding photo shoot in an unexpected way: he jumped into the pool in his clothes and all. What a great way to finish a perfect Monday morning.
Olya and Rico, thank you for finding me on the internet as well and letting me be part of your special day. I wish you a wonderful journey as husband and wife!
