Last summer I photographed this small wedding at the Royal Library Garden in Copenhagen. Working as a wedding photographer in Copenhagen, I have photographed many outdoor weddings around the city and the Royal Library Garden is one of my favourite spots.
outdoor civil wedding in copenhagen
In Copenhagen, in addition to the weddings celebrated in the beautiful Copenhagen City Hall, the commune organises open-air civil wedding ceremonies in different places around the city, such as: Amager Strand, ByOasen, Amaliehaven, among others.
I met Carlos and Yumara at the library garden minutes before their wedding ceremony began. They were accompanied by their parents and friends, who came from Spain to celebrate this very special day. After the quick wedding ceremony at the Royal Library Garden, we walked together through the streets of Copenhagen for a wedding photo shoot. The day was beautiful and everyone was radiant.
While I was photographing the two of them, Yumara asked me to photograph her bouquet, as the flowers in it had a very special meaning for them. They explained to me that earlier that year, they got pregnant, but unfortunately had a miscarriage. They had named the little girl they were expecting Dhalia, the name of the flower in the bouquet. When they told me this story, I got so emotional and started crying, and so did they. So you can imagine my joy when I received an email from Yumara last month, asking me to photograph a newborn session in May, as she was at the end of her pregnancy, expecting another baby.
I can’t wait to meet this sweet couple again and their long-awaited baby. And I’ll definitely post the result of this session here. But for now, enjoy the photos of this very special wedding.
